Somewhere In Between

My February trip began a day after my birthday.  February 11 saw my friend picking me up at 7:00 am, dropping me at the airport and me knitting ‘On the Way to San Jose’. However, I accomplished nothing; I dropped a stitch early in the trip and spent the entire time taking out and redoing! Only later I began to realize that I had most likely had taken out the ‘new stitch’ I had learned how to do to start this particular section of my project!

The rental car experience was equally frustrating.  I have learned to ask the attendant to help me figure out the technical connection from the phone to the car: Car Play is NOT always the answer.  The attendant couldn’t figure out this connection on the Nissan Rogue; we spent at least 20 minutes accomplishing nothing. So, Alamo gave me a different car.  But, I failed to ask how to lighten the screen so that I could see the map and my music selection on the display!  I was already out of the airport before I realized that I couldn’t push the right button to correct this while driving. At least I knew where I was going!

So my trip started out with Unknowns – my knitting and the car! I didn’t get the knitting under control until I returned to Phoenix where I sat and watched my knitting guru rip out all that I had done incorrectly because I had accidentally taken out this ‘critical’ stitch.  I figured out the car display on my final return trip to San Jose.

A Memorial Service and a visit to my ENT occurred on a Tuesday evening and a Wednesday morning….within 12 hours of each other.  Thursday morning added fuel to my simmering fire: A “functional swallow” targeted my throat ‘spot’ in an overdue appointmentwith my myofunctional therapist and her tongue exercises.

By Friday, I was walking on thin ice. I had to leave my MahJong circle early – the friendship and the game were unsuccessful in distracting me from the pain that was overwhelming my jaw/throat.
