May |  Manifesting Miracles

And where is my LIFE going now?

Many pathways have manifested.
Much information has been downloaded.
Several conversations with highly regarded medical professionals have transpired.

Out of Pain,
Comes Beauty

The Second Opinion

Upon receiving a diagnosis after 30 years, I wanted a second opinion on the
MR Neurography scan. I googled “Glossopharyngeal Doctors USA” and two neurosurgeon’s names appeared – one in New York and one in Scottsdale!

I immediately called the Scottsdale neurosurgeon’s office.
Peter Nakaji, MD was a former Program Director
at Barrows Neurological Institute – back to Barrows!
Furthermore, I learned he is a very good friend of my neurologist,
Raj Singh, who highly recommended him for this second opinion.
They both left Barrows at the same time and started private practices.

After much back and forth phone conversations with Scottsdale Neurosurgery Specialists and the Neurological Injury Institute,
I was able to have the scan delivered into the Scottsdale ‘portal’ for review.
Initially, I was told I needed to purchase a CD; so, I now have two CD’s of the scan as well.
Within two weeks, I had information from a contact at the Scottsdale Neurosurgery Specialists clinic.
I was disapointed that I was not able to have a consultation with this neurosurgeon.
The contact said that his recommendation was to see a surgical ENT.
This did NOT give me the information I wanted. I was hoping for a confirmation that he agreed with the MR reading.

So now I’m back to the end of June at AOC Physicians with my ‘laryngologist’ referral – a surgical ENT.
My piano-parent Barrows neurosurgeon/friend had suggested that no neurosurgeon
would want to deal with this neuroma since it was in my throat and not my skull.  It appears she is correct in this assumption!
Previously, my Mayo Clinic experience had confirmed that ENT’s will not see a patient with a glossopharyngeal nerve diagnosis!

This will be an interesting appointment, assuming it’s not cancelled!
And the Circle continues.

And I spiral further into
The Beyond

Restorative Breathing
Improve Cranial Nerve Functioning

I was referred to Lois Laynee by my California osteopath.
At my appointment in May, four conversational items
grabbed my immediate attention and reinforced why I was there.

  1. Saliva test – Salt, Lemon Juice and Apple Cider Vinegar with breathing and Body Stimulation with Wiggle, Pat and Stroke
  2. “Hallucination” – autonomic nervous system trauma aftermath
  3. Ozone Ear and Sinus Insufflation
  4. Vibrational Tools

All four of these topics are relevant for my case in her work with cranial nerve stabilization and re-initegration.

The Saliva Test

I was stunned to realize that I only had saliva on the left side of my mouth – the “fluid’ side and swells every other day. No one has been able to determine what was generating the fluid – certainly wasn’t my sinus. This simple test confirmed that the left glossopharyngeal nerve was being overstimulated because the right side was nonfunctional.

Another parallel – stimulating the right side of my jaw joint area and behind the ear with the cold laser is more effective for dealing with pain on the LEFT side. The right side is always tight. Birth trauma from breech birth created a ‘flattened occiput’ on the right side which was long been confirmed by any cranial osteopath that treats me. And coincidentally, the eustachian tube on the right is filled with fluid – and not on the left.

Tongue sensation is shared by four cranial nerves. Dissolving a piece of salt on my tongue and then spraying my tongue with lemon juice and apple cider vinegar will reintegrate the salivary response. The lemon juice simulates the glossopharyngeal nerve and the apple cider vinegar stimulates the vagus nerve.

Vibrational Tools and Laser Light

Gentle vibration around the ears and throat and face help with pain.  Very quick and easy to do.  A very different vibrational frequency than the cold laser.  Both ‘tools’ help ease the intensity of the pain while using.  I have used a cold laser many times in the wee hours
of the morning when I’m jolted out of sleep with pain… and this has helped me return
to sleep. During the day, most of the time the pain returns once the vibration stops
…but with a different ‘quality.’ My response is totally unpredictable.

Ozone Ear and Sinus Insufflation

Ozone therapy is typically
 a ‘medical breakthrough’ treatment.
Ozone therapy is ‘risky’.

And, the health game continues
on what to do and who to believe.
Another world is out there with Ozone therapy..

In ear insufflation, ozone is gently infused
into the ear canal to reach the sinuses, lymphatic system, and eustachian tubes.

I have two positive lab tests for an infection. Few WBCs… Many Gram positive bacilli… Many Gram negative bacilli;…Many Gram positive cocci.
I carry a specimen tube with me at all times
 in case my palate spasms
and produces a ‘specimen’.

Customedico and the owner/ head pharmacist
Sarah Simmers is waiting for my ‘treasure’.
She has access to many labs across the country
and wants to be very specific on where she sends
the sample so she can create a customized spray
 to treat this ‘mystery’ infection.

Ozone, however, sounds most promising –
whether the infection is bacterial, fungal or viral.
Ears or sinus insufflation – or both?
I really hope to be able to do this in the near future.
Lois Laynee provided me with a Phoenix RN contact.
hope to schedule an appointment soon.
And then there are ‘home kits’ for home use.

This would target my problem area with the surgical resection at the torus tubarius/eustachian tube area and down into my throat.

Another ‘into the Beyond’
with Ozone.

Autonomic Nervous System Dysfunction = ‘Hallucination’

I can go to bed feeling rather good.  Sometimes around 3:00 am, I am ‘attacked’.
Other times, I  wake up in the morning and the sharp pain assaults me.
My breathing practice with Jin Shin has been my ‘go-to’ way to shift the pain,
whether lying flat in bed or in my Zero-gravity chair
…and now there is Biofield Breathing in the mix.

Two days before my appointment with Lois Laynee, my osteopathic treatment
in the afternoon left me feeling very good – all afternoon and into the evening.
I slept well – and woke up into severe pain the next morning
– within 12 hours I am ‘the best’ and ‘the worst’.

What happens during sleep?
This has been a question for years.

Lois Laynee has worked with many trauma victims and PTSD
– and she has a word for this:  ‘hallucination’.
I have had EMDR and worked with several different ‘professionals’ in years past.
Cranial Osteopathic treatment can palpate the ‘aftermath’ of these events
and ‘resets’ my autonomic nervous system.
But at some level of consciousness, “it” remains.
Is this because it happened coming out of anesthesia?
Has it been stimulated and released by my ‘Biofield breathing’?
This pattern seems to be surfacing and is most difficult to walk through.

I am grateful I have enough experience over the years to have the trust and confidence
that the body knows how to recover when set in motion.
And that is what the cranial osteopathic treatment does
…restores motion in the autonomic and central nervous systems.
This is called healing; not spontaneous healing…
healing over time and walking straight into and through the pain.

Somatic body work/psychology is everywhere today – I’ve attended several workshops and actually enrolled to attend a Santa Monica workshop with Bessel Van der Kolk and Scott Lyons; this was open to practitioners as well as patients.
I attended a preview ‘Zoom’ meeting – and learned what I needed to know.

My ‘somatic body work’ with the osteopaths seemed to be far superior
to what I was hearing and experiencing in the workshop.
I did not attend.  I realized that my EMDR and Cranial Osteopathic treatment
during my oral-surgeon ‘trigger’ of the trauma was, in essence,
somatic body work with trauma.

Jin Shin Jyutsu®

Background

Jin Shin Jyutsu® was my first foray into The Beyond… in 1977!
My son’s best friend was Japanese and his mom referred
me to her Jin Shin friend to help with pain relief from two failed back surgeries after my second child was born.
A laminectomy followed by a spinal fusion resulted in a devastating prognosis:  repeated spinal fusions with entire spine being fused
by age 50.  I was 28 years old.

At this time, I was a classical church organist.
I could no longer swivel and balance my pelvis on an organ bench
with 32 pedals.  I had to quit my beloved occupation.

My Phoenix osteopath is very familiar with Jin Shin and told me about a wonderful practitioner around a year ago.  The name Alice Burmeister rang a bell, since Mary Burmeister was the person who brought Jin Shin to the United States from Japan in the 1950’s!
Alice married her son.

I took the Self-Help courses from Mary Burmeister and have used the Main Central Vertical flow and Mediator flows for years. At one time,
I began incorporating my breathing techniques
 in conjunction with Jin Shin.
This has been a major ‘go-to’ help with pain management for years.

Alice, an LMT, is exceptional.  The deep states of relaxation that result from her treatment have to be healing for my body,
especially when in pain.  How to relax into pain?
A Jin Shin treatment.. .even if/when the pain remains.

Just this past week, after the 12 hour exasperating osteopathic relief/waking up into extreme pain
in the morning and my encounter with Lois Laynee, I had a mind-blowing experience.

I questioned what happens during sleep before I saw Lois Laynee.  Her trauma / ‘hallucination’ discussion included
the words “I am safe”.  These words always remind me of my EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) visits with hand tapping and eye movement. Thus, I was ‘programmed’ with these two experiences before I saw Alice.

My visit with Alice on Saturday was on a ‘fluid’/pressure day which can trigger spiraling anxiety. Thus, I was filled with anxiety and felt ‘weird’ as I laid down on her table.  During the treatment I was in a ‘limbic’ state of consciousness
 – not asleep but not awake either.  As my mind would ‘fly away’, my inner voice would repeat the words ‘you are safe’.
I have never done this before. For the duration of the treatment,
my inner voice kept repeating ‘you are safe‘ over and over.
At the end of the treatment, she said my deep pulses were very synchronized. My body was deeply relaxed.

The next day I wondered if in this ‘altered / limbic’ state of consciousness with “I am safe” overriding the fear
that was at the surface will have a positive effect on the ‘sleep trigger’ in the wee hours of the morning
that have been with me for years.  Time will tell.

I have often wondered what it would be like have this happen when with my osteopath
so that he could intervene at the time rather than treat the aftereffects.
I cannot, however, make an appointment at 3:00 am in the morning or spend the night with him!

Have I been able to override or alter this deep state of consciousness trigger during Alice’s treatent?
The fear and panic I remember from the intubation injury awareness was during this  stage
…waking up in panic into “Something’s wrong!  what’s happened?!”

I cry as a write.
This recent experience was definitely a ‘big deal’.
