Unexpected family happenings compelled me to begin creating a website,
The Cranial Connection Chronicles. The mission of this website was to reveal and validate the Osteopathic Cranial Concept Legacy and the results of
Osteopathy in the Cranial Field through StoryTelling.
This venture was an outgrowth of my booklet The Cranial Connection (1986).
– December 2023
James Nestor’s best-seller Breath: The New Science of a Lost Art,
was eye-opening for me and led to re-examination of
the world of Orthodontics, the current realm of “Facial Development”.
Much to my surprise, I discovered there remained controversy and chaos.
Little had changed in 40+ years!
Forty-five years ago in the late 1970’s, dental/orthodontic mismanagement initiated devastating repercussions to my health. My life radically changed in the early 1980’s when I was referred to a Cranial Osteopath and thus entered into a different medical perspective that, in my case, was critical and
life-changing.
The time is providential for the interface of Cranial Osteopathy and Orthodontics. The Cranial Connection Chronicles expanded its focus and became The Cranial Connection Paradigm for the Patient
with a two fold -purpose:
StoryTelling and Patient Education.
In December 2023, I was totally unaware of how reading James Nestor’s best-seller Breath
was the initiation of a turning point in my life.
One year later, in Christmas of 2024, I am exceptionally aware of how this book launched
a cascade of events that I could have never imagined.

which was destined to radically change my life during
the remainder of 2024.
In this book, I met Tasha Turzo, DO, orofacial osteopath in Santa Cruz, California, a cranial osteopath
who had worked in tandem with dentists for over twenty years

I was privileged to participate in an osteopathic on-line course with Dr. Turzo,
The Interface of Osteopathy, ALF
and Myfunctional Therapy.
My anatomical understanding rapidly increased. Personal medical puzzle pieces of my uncommon, complex and chronic history began falling into place.
April and May 2024
Tasha Turzo’s first new-patient availability was in July; this appointment was booked in April. An initial visit via Zoom in May initiated our doctor-patient relationship.

Orofacial Osteopathy
A Patient Story of Transformation
July found me driving in circles trying to locate the office of Tasha Turzo, DO which was located in a circular complex with multiple offices encircling a central circular building. This describes my travels during the subsequent months of 2024: circles. Circles of my life with the past jumping into the present prompting wondering about the future. Coincidence after coincidence. I have become the main character in an adventure series with no ending in sight, discovering unfathomable treasures and uncovering historical connections.
– Driving in circles, getting lost “On the Road to (and from) San Jose”, the airport destination for driving across the
Santa Cruz mountains on Highway 17 to arrive in Santa Cruz on the coast. The 17 has been infamous for detours!
– Navigating in a rental car alone with google maps that refuse to interact with the big screen in the car plus side-road detours that occasionally become one lane can be exhausting and frustrating as well as adventurous and scenic.
– Receiving notice of a new appointment in four hours with a dental colleague of Dr. Turzo while standing in the San Jose airport waiting for a rental car! “The Things That Scare You” ? (Pema Chodron) The dental office!
– Solving a MAJOR riddle in my medical history…thanks to a dental observation. A simple comment catapulted me back in time to 1971. Medical history events that connect into the present emerged – fifty three years later.
– Locating a new ‘home away from home.’ By the sea, in the redwoods? Where is my go-to grocery store and the restaurant where I can sit back and relax?
– Ending 2024 with a most unexpected ‘transformation’ with not only my back but also my head…all within a month! December has become a pivotal time in my life’s events with a Deeper Understanding.

The Orofacial Osteopath
I thought medical travel days were in my past. I vividly remember getting lost on a Sunday afternoon on I-90,
en-route from Chicago to Valparaiso, Indiana and my oral surgeon.
Getting lost in the Santa Cruz mountains with a Highway 17 detour catapulted me back in time to this 1998 Detour on the I-90. I made nine trips from Phoenix to Chicago.
And here I am again, as the past becomes my present. My life unfolds in one continuous spiral
… going upward and onward.
I also remember and revisit the loneliness in seeking new frontiers and making my home in motel rooms. That hasn’t changed.
